It has been a year since Debenhams launched its own watch brand. Floozie watches by FrostFrench was previewed ahead of going on sale for the AW13 season, and has been extremely well received by customers, according to the department store’s watch supremo Richard Maynes.

“Sadie Frost and Jemima French, who front the brand, are both extremely creative, great fun and a pleasure to work with. The brand has a strong identity and unique handwriting that customers really appreciate and want to be part of. The range is fun, quirky and feminine and I’m very much looking forward to nurturing the brand and watching it grow,” he adds.

Despite Debehnams stocking over 25 watch brands, Richard won’t be drawn on his favourites. “It’s important to remember that I’m basically an agent for the customer working to deliver a compelling offer on their behalf. My personal love of quality, diversity, attention to detail, and value is, on the other hand, something I try to ensure is in every range,” he explains.

You can’t work at Debenhams without becoming a little obsessed with fashion, but Richard says he won’t become a slave to it. “I consider myself an observer of fashion rather than a follower, most people know me for sporting bow ties and trainers rather than the latest look,” he says.
