Newlyweds Alan and Kelsey Moore only set up shop – a physical shop that is – last year, but their retail business Twisted Time has been selling quirky off-beat watch brands such as AÃRK, Ziiiro and Void since 2010.

If you’ve never heard of any of the aforementioned brands, then you need to head to the site immediately and spend an hour or so educating yourself. The Moores certainly have an eye for an unusual timepiece and the site is well worth a visit.

The business started out in 2010 with the then boyfriend and girlfriend – the couple tied the knot last year – cooped up in a small flat in Glasgow. But as the business has grown, so has their work environment and you’ll now find them in an HQ all of their own in East Kilbride.

Last year was a transformative one for the Moores, not just because of their nuptials, but because they took a huge leap of faith by opening a store in trendy retail development Boxpark in London’s Shoreditch.

“Initially it was meant to be a pop-up over the Christmas period but after a successful couple of months we decided to keep it on permanently,” says Kelsey. “The retail space has really helped to put us on the map and we have been hosting regular events in the store that have been really beneficial in raising awareness surrounding the Twisted Time brand. We feel it helps us stand out from many of the other online-only retailers.”

After this successful first dip into bricks-and-mortar retail, the Moores are setting their sights on other potential store locations in London, so expect to see more from Scotland’s finest horological cool hunters.
